7 days ago I had a baby!
(Well, my wife did. But you know what I mean).
Mom and baby are doing well and we’re trying to get as much sleep as we can 😵💫
I’m over the moon, but I promise that’s not what this entire article is about.
Life has been wild. For this wonderful reason, but also for a few others…

Wanting to make some changes to my content strategy
A bit of burnout
As a result, I have not been the most faithful to this newsletter.
Lately, I haven’t given it the time and attention it deserves. I feel bad about that.
The reason I started a newsletter was to have an audience that isn’t entirely dependent on one platform. I also wanted to build a very focused community through it that I can really nurture. I’ve gotten away from that mission a bit.
So, here are a few changes I’m making to get back to that original intent.
1. Making the Entire Newsletter Free
I’ve been experimenting with paywalls for a little while now.
And I don’t like it. I haven’t been able to offer substantial value to paid members and I don’t like the idea of blocking my content.
As a result, I’m going back to making it all free. 0 paywalls.
2. Consistent Content
I have been dropping the ball big time here. My aim is to get back to consistent weekly content, even if that means doing a shorter form (but still value-packed) article for a particular week.
When people trust me with allowing me into their inbox, I feel it’s a disservice when I’m not doing anything to make the newsletter worthwhile. I believe that it hurts my audience more than it nurtures it.
So I plan to make this platform a priority again and continue building it.
3. Greater Transparency
Over time, I feel like this newsletter has gotten watered down. I really don’t like that.
I started just going through the motions with it and making it too surface level.
Instead, I want it to be a place where I can show MORE of my personality, share MORE of my life, and share MORE of my knowledge and experience of the data field (and other stuff) with others.
So, yeah!
I don’t like making promises about things I plan to do before doing them, I’d rather just do them and talk it about it later, but I felt this warrants it.
I’m sorry to everybody for losing focus with this newsletter. I’m committed to turning it around.
Looking forward to it!
That’s all for today ✌️
